Already an Amazon PR book best seller the audio book was recorded at a studio used by New Order in Knutsford and features chapters on strategy, media relations, crisis, social media, brand building and evaluation.

Mandy Pearse MBA, FCIPR President of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations said:

“Making Waves provides real insight into the maritime industry in a time of change and the strategic value of public relations in supporting its work. What comes through clearly is the necessity for theory and professional practice to be matched with insight and knowledge of the sector. This book is a call to action to business leaders to put strategic public relations at the heart of their operations and for practitioners to become the trusted advisors those leaders need.”

Some take always:

• Maritime is changing. Decarbonisation thrusts the sector into the mainstream. The recent Black Trail documentary showed the industry is under greater scrutiny and has to take a more professional strategic approach to public relations. Maritime has some of the greatest stories to tell of any industry but it is untenable for major industry players to continue the low profile delusion or undertake ill-prepared media interviews.

• PR requires a learning mindset. The industry is constantly evolving. As practitioners we have to keep pace with change – our brief is demanding.

• Making Waves is written to help improve understanding of what PR is in the maritime sector and how best to use it. It draws knowledge from our experience but also across industry from CIPR training with thought leaders like Andrew Bruce Smith Stuart Bruce as well as insight from maritime journalists and figures like Sam Chambers Beth Maundrill Richard Halfhide I am grateful to the International Maritime Organization Society of Maritime Industries (SMI)
