Polaris has won a new deal to help promote the U.K. pavilion at China’s biggest shipbuilding trade fair, Marintec in Shanghai.
Polaris is working with the UK Government’s Department of International Trade and London-based trade body the Society of Maritime Industries (SMI) ahead of the fair which is held between Dec 3 and 6 attracting 2000 exhibitors.
Ben Pinnington said Polaris is helping promote a package of support measures which includes a specially designed UK Pavilion under the Exporting is GREAT brand where DIT China commercial staff and the SMI’s Shanghai representative will work with companies to broker introductions to relevant Chinese decision-makers; a UK-themed gala evening reception attended by key members of China’s maritime industry as well as a pre-show dinner featuring a market briefing with prominent Chinese stakeholders.
Ben said Polaris is promoting the event by generating publicity in international English maritime press as well as UK regional and national press encouraging more UK businesses to take part. He said Polaris’ writing and social media teams are also producing case study portraits of UK business attending the show explaining the benefits of doing business in China.
He said: “We’re absolutely delighted to win this work and help promote UK businesses and the UK pavilion,” he said. “Maritime is Polaris’ biggest single sector and we have worked hard for over 10 years to develop knowledge of the industry, its media and the international trade fairs. Exhibitions like Marintec present a brilliant opportunity for the UK to promote itself on a global stage. We’re also really pleased to be able to expand our work into China as the world’s biggest maritime nation. A key element of our future growth plan is to build our contacts book overseas to help our clients grow their companies. “
Polaris is a member of the SMI and sits on the Commercial Marine Group committee.
