Polaris has completed an assignment with long-term client Cammell Laird to support the Royal ship naming of the U.K.’s new £200 million polar research vessel the RRS Sir David Attenborough.
Polaris, which has offices in Ancoats Manchester and Ellesmere Port, has worked on the project since 2016 and last week helped manage the third major event related to the ship at the shipyard. The ceremony saw the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge join Sir David for the official naming in front of a crowd of 3000 people.

Polaris provided media management in partnership with the comms team at the British Antarctic Survey, which led the event, and the National Environmental Research Council together with the Department of Business Energy and Industrial Strategy. So far nearly 1000 pieces of media coverage and 145 interviews have been generated from the event which was one of the main news stories of the day. In addition, tens of thousands of interactions and views were made on social media.
