Safety seal manufacturer Roxtec UK is reporting a record financial year with turnover surpassing £6million for the first time.
Following three successive years of stable turnover running at £4.8million UK sales rose by 26pc in the 2017/18 financial year hitting £6.1million. Roxtec UK is the British subsidiary of the £173million turnover Swedish headquartered Roxtec Group.
Roxtec UK managing director Clive Sharp, who has overseen the growth in his first year in charge, said the UK operation has grown its workforce to 20 this year and is benefiting from years of planning, careful work and increased activity in offshore wind, rail and power sectors, as well as the MRO (maintenance, repair, overhaul) market.
“Roxtec UK has been able to capitalise on a stable period for a number of years and taken a large leap forward driving turnover to record levels,” he said. “The business is performing well in traditional markets such as infrastructure, manufacturing, process industries, nuclear, power, datacentres, offshore and oil and gas. We have completed high-profile domestic projects supplying the largest offshore windfarm in Scotland. Further international work has involved supplying Kazakhstan’s Tengiz oilfield and the West Nile Delta gas field for BP.
“However, growth has also been stimulated by increased activity in relatively new markets. This includes the maritime market where we supplied Britain’s new £200m polar research vessel – the RRS Sir David Attenborough, and also the rail sector which recently produced the largest single order in the UK office’s history. There remains enormous scope for our product range across multiple sectors, and our UK operation is fortunate to be backed by the broader global Roxtec Group with an international network of more than 750 staff and 27 subsidiaries. This provides huge potential to explore new markets and guarantees on the ground support for overseas projects anywhere in the world.”

Mr Sharp said the firm is already reinvesting capital back into the business in preparation for new opportunities in 2019 and beyond. “In an effort to stabilise growth and secure more work in key sectors we have recently made a series of new appointments,” he said. “A total of four specialists have been hired to focus on rail, infrastructure, heavy machinery and nuclear markets. These new appointments increase our full-time staff base by almost 25pc and sends a firm message to the marketplace about our desire to continue driving growth.”
