Polaris manages media for HRH Princess Anne ACL Christening
Polaris specialises in media promotion of major maritime events. It was appointed by Atlantic Container Line (ACL) to manage the Christening of its new ship the Atlantic Sea by the Princess Royal. The event took place at Liverpool’s cruise line terminal on October 20 and signals an era of new investment in Liverpool by ACL. ACL has built its new European headquarters on Duke Street which 200 staff will move into in October from their present base on Princes Parade.
The event attracted a large media turnout with reporters from BBC World, BBC NWT, ITV Granada, the Liverpool Echo, BBC Radio Merseyside, Radio City, Lloyds List, IHS Fairplay, Freight Business Journal, Heavy Lift & Project Forwarding and International Bulk Journal.
The ceremony ended with a spectacular firework display broadcast on ITV and captured by Polaris’ photography team.
Polaris director Ben Pinnington said it was the second major event the company helped manage that week following the Sir David Attenborough keel lay ceremony at Cammell Laird, a long time Polaris client.
“It was a true privilege to work on this event for ACL,” he said. “A huge amount of organising went into the day. Polaris was able to show our expertise in managing major maritime events, experience drawn from handling events in the UK and overseas. We were able to brief ACL and its partners on how to best to coordinate the media and what the media would expect. We were further able to give advice on media interviews and it was also very important for ACL to hit a range of audiences locally and also in the international maritime press.”
Other major maritime events Polaris has promoted include Cammell Laird’s £1billon Royal Fleet Auxiliary and Aircraft Carrier contacts, the 200th and 300th drydocking milestones at Oman Drydock in the Middle East in 2014 and 2015 and the launch of the Mamola Reliance Platform Supply Vessel by Swiss ship manager Promar in Barcelona in 2015. In addition Polaris has helped promote a number of new ships and routes announced by Oman Shipping Company, one of the biggest shipping companies in the Gulf.
